Hi everyone! Today I'm showing you Claire's Candy Shop. This is three coats with one coat of OPI RapidDry top coat. This pink jelly base is LOADED with multicolored glitter! As you probably know, this is a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop...yes Claire's even used the same name.
Claire's Candy Shop is available for $5 as Claire's stores. They often have their cosmetics on sale buy one get one 50% off! This is my first Claire's polish, aside from their Magnetix polishes, and it applied well and looks really pretty! =)
This is a fitting post for everything going on in the polish world right now. I don't want to start drama, but I am curious to how everyone feels about the business of "duping" (when companies create polishes nearly identical to other companies' top sellers). Personally, I think if people want to be treated professionally then they need to act professionally. And that's all I'll say about that! What do you think? =) Thanks for reading today!

Totally agree about acting professionally. I also think that sometimes some companies are more of trendsetters than other companies. The others then use that to base what they need to create. Same with clothing and purses and everything else non polish. I think if people can't afford a chanel polish or what not and someone like claries or revlon can make one just like it then why not? And just because one person created it first doesn't mean other people were thinking of things similar to that and just didn't make it yet. I don't see it any differently than eyeshadows or lipstick. That's my thoughts on it at least.
ReplyDeleteVery cool looking, but they could have at least changed the name. If it was just a coincidence, they could have re-launched with a new name.
ReplyDeleteI really like the fact that more affordable brands are coming out with dupes of expensive ones from like Channel or Deborah Lippmann. Personally, I cannot afford these brands and so I love when I'm able to find a dupe like the one above for a color I really want :)
ReplyDeleteIn the realm of duping, all is fair in love and war!! There is no copyright or trademark any company can put on a color, maybe the formula, but it would be completely ridiculous to put a patent out on a certain color. That's why I think it's perfectly alright for companies to come out with VERY similar ones from expensive brands!
